News - Duchess of Cornwall unveiling memorial plaque

Duchess of Cornwall unveiling memorial plaque - November 03, 2014

We've recently had the great honour of creating a memorial plaque for Saint Ronan's School in Hawkurst, Kent. The plaque was unveiled by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, who has dedicated an all weather pitch to the school in memory of her late brother Mark Shand.

The Duchess' brother, Mark Shand, attended the school from 1959 to 1964. and has since done a lot of charitable work in aid of the school and it's pupils. Mark was due to unveil the pitch himself, but sadly passed away before he was able to return to the school.

The plaque itself is huge, standing 600mm tall and 900mm wide. It has been crafted from the finest 20mm thick Welsh slate and the engraving has been left natural (including the schools crest which sits at the top of the plaque). Natural unpainted engraving really highlights the beauty of the material and ensures a durable, striking finish.
