The Ultimate Guide to Choosing a Commemorative Plaque...

So you've been asked to find a supplier for an unveiling plaque. You have two days to get back to your boss with a price and design and you have no clue where to start.

...You've come to the right place! Give this brief guide a read and get in touch with us today. Our team will take the pressure off your hands.

First things first. You'll have to be able to provide a rough amount of information for our team. This information will help our sales staff to generate an accurate price quotation for you.

Here's a few pointers for you to consider:

1. Inscription: Our sales team will need to know the amount of inscription you will want engraved into the commemorative stone. With a good indication of the character amount, we can advise you with a size and price within the hour. Don't worry if you don't have this to hand, we can always provide you with an approximate price and work from there.

2. Logo, Crest of Motif: The better the quality a logo, the quicker you'll recieve your design. For the 'techie' amongst us, AI or EPS files are the best. But we can try to work with most formats.

3. Size: If you have a size in mind, that's great. If you don't, no problem. We can work with the inscription you provide us and advise a size according to that.

3. Where will the unveiling take place?  Decide whether the plaque needs to be temporarily displayed for the purposes of the unveiling before it gets fixed in it's permanant position at a later date. It's often helful to mount it temporarily to an unveiling easel which allows for curtains. Mounting the plaque to the wall prior to the unveiling may make it difficult to drape a flag or use curtains for the special moment when it gets unveiled. We have a beautiful unveiling easel for hire with elegant blue velvet curatins. Royalty have unveiled our plaques using this easel, so it's worth asking about prices and availability. Our easel does get booked up quickly, so make sure to book as soon as you can! 5. What fixing option should I go for? You will need to decided where the plaque will be fixed firstly. Let us know what material the wall is, and we can advise from there. We offer a range of fixings from faceless (invisible) fixings, drilled fixings, hanging fixings and more bespoke fixings.

5. Delivery and Installation Service: Once your order is ready to be dispatched, we will ship your plaque on a next day devliery courier service. If you require a guarranteed next day delivery service, we can offer a dedicated delivery service with a member of our team.To take the presssure off your hands, we also provide a installation service, with a team of very experienced fitters. If you have any questions regarding this, please get in touch and a member of our team will happily help.

We've also put together some frequently asked questions that will help you out:

1. What is the best material for an unveiling or commemorative plaque? Good news, you're in the right place. Stone is by far the most durable, highest quality material to use for a commemorative plaque. You need something to last you years upon years, without the design or quality diminishing over time. Welsh Slate is the favourite material for our customers, but we can also supply a wide range of natural stone materials, including Red Granite, Black Granite, Blue Pearl Granite, Marble, Portland Limestone, Bathstone, Purbeck and Yorkstone.

2. I've been given a strict budget, can you work with that? We will try to work with most budgets. Although please keep in mind that a good quality commemorative plaque will not come cheap. Skilled craftsmanship is always reflective in the costs. If you come across a supplier boasting of low priced stone plaques, please research the company through reliable review sites which include Google Reviews and Free Index. We cannot stress enough that in our industry, quality is reflective in cost. If you're after a long lasting, beautifully crafted, high quality stone plaque, shopping around for the cheapest option possible is not advisable.

3.What is your lead time? Our standard lead time is 7 - 10 working days from point of order and approved artwork. Need it before that? No problem, we love a challenge and can look at producing your order for a specifric date. A word of advise however - allowing as much time as possible to arrange your order is desirable. Ordering in good times will allow the proof to be passed to all stakeholders for careful checking and to ensure that your plaque arrives in plenty of time before the big day. We don't like to rush production and certain processes can't be rushed. Quality is always of paramount importance. If the plaque has to be rushed, you may then be relying on a courier to deliver a plaque  undamaged the day before a dignitary arrives which is no good for anyone#s nerves!

4.What fixings are best for a commemorative plaque? We are often asked this question. Most of our customers opt for our faceless (invisible) fixings. These fixings allow ultimate design creativity for our designers. The faceless fixings are simple and easy to install. If you're unsure about which fixings to go for, give us a call and we can chat you through the options.

5.How much is a commemorative or unveiling plaque going to cost? The cost of your commemorative plaque is based on a number of dertermining details, including material, characters, logo, design, size and shipping location. Give us a call on 029 2067 2823 or email us at info@stonesign.com with your enquiry and our team will get back to you quickly with a price quotation.
